When the other side of the hedge isn't greener!
ಇರುವುದೆಲ್ಲವ ಬಿಟ್ಟು, ಇರದುದರೆಡೆಗೆ ತುಡಿವುದೇ ಜೀವನ!!
which means — ‘ leaving everything we have, we always thrive for something we don’t have’. which is absolutely relatable for every aspect of our life. we are never satisfied with what we have. we always thrive for something more and adventurous, even though it's beyond our limits. It's not just about being financially or intellectually stimulating these days, it's more than that. It's more like a competition we have with ourselves to be better than yesterday. Of course, it's necessary for every human to better themselves every day, to be a better person than yesterday. It is important to have those thoughts to achieve something new and that thrives us to be adventurous to gain new experiences in life. It motivates us to do the impossible, but isn’t it completely opposite to what we are always taught?? “Haasige iddashtu kaalu chaachu”, a saying in Kannada, which summarises to be happy with what you have. If everyone is happy with what they have at that moment then there is no motivation to work towards our dreams. If man was happy with earth then he wouldn’t have found his way to Mars, by which the whole of mankind is amazed. The adrenaline or insane urge that pushes us to try new things is what's responsible for future advancements.
But why does this happiness lasts only until we achieve them? after that it's gone ..just puff…!!
And again the cycle repeats, new goals, new experiences/ adventures, meet your goals and repeat. While doing all of this, aren’t we all forgetting something? the main reason for which the first goal was set, to be happy in life. even after achieving the best in the world, and getting appreciated by our loved ones, we thrive on the unseen path. Is it because we are trying to fill in other voids in our lives?? or is this just adrenaline?? We take loans which is more than our salary, pay EMIs for the rest of our lives for what?? thinking that we will earn more tomorrow. is it being greedy or is it just having higher goals??? Then why is it called greedy when we wish for more and not as further goals??
And I think it's completely okay to be that way, but let's take small breaks in between these adventures to just sit with ourselves to accept our flaws and admire our potential. Appreciate the smaller things and give time to your loved ones. Of course, get back to being impossible but just because we can’t achieve everything we want doesn’t mean we cannot be happy. After all, happiness is relative, yet has so much importance. It's okay to think we can be more than what we are today, it's okay if we cannot be more than what we are today as well. Ultimately what matters is that we should be able to accept and live with our failures and achievements, which is okay because everyone has been through failures. Let’s accept our limitations and move forward.
